Daron in Silver Spring,MD. Fall 2014. On one of his interior design work trips. I drove out to his hotel and we traded the guitar back and forth all night. At one point Lisa called to see how it was going and after they hung up we got into a philosophical conversation about love and the human condition. He was totally aware that he had hit the jackpot with Lisa. This was a good night and my favorite picture I ever took of him. Such a wonderful dude!

Daron in Austin about a year after the start of the Pandemic. I think he was working in Georgetown and drove down for the night. At the time I was taking care of my elderly father and Daron- who had developed a casual friendship with him over the years wanted to say hello and talk with him for a bit. We had just come outside after doing so when I snapped this Pic. That was the kind of person Daron was- if he cared about you- he cared about the people you loved as well.

Daron in Austin 2017. As an interior designer he often traveled for work. Any time he was near friends he would try to go hang out. If memory serves me right he was working in San Marcos on this trip and drove up for the night where we played guitars and watched the Champions of World Class Wrestling documentary.

Pinkish Black with friends Jeff and Nadine in Philadelphia on the PB/Zombi tour. November 12th, 2015. Daron and Jon met Steve Moore from Zombi when Steve was playing with Goblin when they requested PB open the run of shows from FL to CA. A friendship ensued and later this tour took place. Eventually the superb Zombi and Friends records came out showcasing Darons amazing vocal capabilities.

I met Daron in homeroom in third grade at Midway Park Elementary. That was forty years ago. I remember we had to sit boy-girl-boy-girl and we all realized then that everything was serious now. This was school for real. It didn't take long for us to bond over a love of horror movies. I didn't think anyone else was into that but he was and we were always talking about it. "Stays on task" was regularly checked on my report card. I spent the night with Daron once at his mom's house that year. Big deal when you're a kid. We watched the Pee Wee Herman Show, A Ghallagher standup show, a documentary about Tom Savini, and Night of the Comet. We also plotted to play a prank on his sister which we never managed to pull off. He had a Casio keyboard that was really rad. He could play it, too, and that was REALLY rad. We were best friends. In fourth grade he was Freddy for Halloween and I was Jason. We traded costumes after recess and went to each other's classes after that. We couldn't believe we got away it. We lost contact after sixth grade. He went to Harwood and I went to Euless. We reconnected in 2004 and had a lot of catching up to do. We would hang out at his place on a Saturday and talk about everything. Music. He liked a lot of the music I liked. He was in local bands I liked! I saw him play before and didn't even realize it. We would talk about grown up stuff. Work, family, politics, etc. We'd spend an hour or so on that and then we were little kids again. Watching horror movies, old local tv shows recorded on VHS, music and whatever else came to mind. It was always nostalgia. No matter what was going on at the time when we got together it all went away for the day and we were kids again. His laugh. I can still hear it and you know what I'm talking about. Oof....
I still haven't made peace with this situation. I miss my friend. I'm grateful for all the time we had but there was a lot more to do. A lot more to talk about.
I'm glad to have met Lisa and Dave along the way. Good times hanging, y'all!
Peace and love

Daron was a friend and witnessed a very embarrassing moment I had once. I was bragging about how I could swing dance when we were hanging out at a bar in Fort Worth. A man overheard and asked me for a dance. When he went to dip me at the end of the song I refused because I was scared of being dropped. The man then grabbed another woman and said here’s how it’s done and dipped her perfectly to the ground. Daron chuckled as my face turned red. He then said “screw that [profanity redacted].”
My condolences to Lisa who was the love of his life and recognized beyond his amazing musical acts and artistic flair was an amazing and caring partner. We could all see it as unwritten and what a special time to have shared with one you love.
